WDAP-3000AX: WiFi-6-AP is fit for outdoor and industrial use
Due to its nature, the outdoor area poses a challenge for the network infrastructure. Wireless access points and routers are also no exception to this rule. Although wireless ranges are higher than in buildings, the requirements of resistance to weathering, temperature tolerance, robustness and security are also higher. Whether an industrial estate or office campus, transport fleet, repository or agricultural sector, the needs for comprehensive WLAN are constantly growing. WLAN which is stable, secure and designed for high access rates plays an important role for data communication in virtually all business fields. With the new WDAP-1800AX and WDAP-3000AX from Planet, Acceed from Düsseldorf, Germany, has extended its programme with two cost-efficient dual outdoor access points which are tailored to these requirements with Wi-Fi 6, IP67, a wide temperature range, PoE, the latest security protocols and OFDMA.
The WDAP-1800AX and the WDAP-3000AX are robust industrial access points for the outdoor area in harsh surroundings and work with the high-performance Wi-Fi 6 protocol (IEEE802.11ax). The WDAP-1800AX reaches a data rate of 1.2 Gbit/s in the 5 GHz band, the WDAP-3000AX up to 2.4 Gbit/s, in connection with the 2.4 GHz band even 3 Gbit/s. Both devices work with the most current standard (WPA3 SAE) for authentication and encoding.
Simultaneous operation with radio frequencies in the 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz band also extend its application flexibility. Thus, for example, communication with local devices over 2.4 GHz and with a further access point over 5 GHz is possible, enabling it to form a wireless backbone. Both bands can also be used to meet the different requirements of various devices, for example the 2.4 GHz band for a better range and the 5 GHz band for better performance or speed. With the OFDMA function from Wi-Fi 6 (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access), which splits the channel into smaller sub-channels, several users can simultaneously transmit or receive data in the same channel, increasing the access density for users. Constant measurement determines the reception quality of the sub-carriers for the individual users. This basis enables the system to optimise the use of the sub-carriers and therefore the spectral efficiency.
Thanks to MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple Input Multiple Output), several WLAN devices can be provided with data simultaneously. This reduces waiting time and data throughput is increased throughout the entire WLAN network. Manual devices which use rechargeable batteries (scanners, smartphones), for example, can change back to an energy-saving mode faster, also having a positive effect on the rechargeable battery running period.
One of the most prominent features of both WDAP models is their robust construction. The IP67-certified aluminium casing provides dust and water protection and is therefore suitable for use under harsh outdoor conditions at temperatures from -40 to +70 °C. Four integrated type N sockets, also secure when wet, are available for high-gain aerials (long distance outdoor applications). The 20KV overvoltage protection for wire-connected interfaces protects the electronics against electrical overvoltage and guarantees stable operation.
The manufacturer’s CloudViewerPro app enables the location and real time-independent monitoring and control of the access points. The GUI configuration wizard supports configuration by the system administrators. Moreover, the integrated Wi-Fi analyser provides optimised real time channel load in order to avoid channel overlapping and achieve higher performance.
